About Me

My name is John Carré Buchanan. I live on the charming Channel Island of Guernsey. I am married and have two children.

As the son of expatriate parents and both a soldier and officer in the British Army I have travelled extensively.

Since returning to Guernsey I have worked in the IT sector and as a logistics specialist in the alumina industry.

In August 2008 I was knocked from my bicycle on the way to work. This had a dramatic impact on my life forcing me from work and leaving me fighting to recover some semblance of my former life. Nine years on I have escaped a wheelchair, completed a Half Ironman Triathlon and most recently returned to work after four and a half years of intensive rehabilitation.

The poems I write are part of my on-going mission to reinvent myself.

I hope you enjoy them.
